Kian, in Year 5, recently had the incredible opportunity to take part in the Windrush project with the Phoenix Dance Company. Over six weeks, Kian worked alongside a professional choreographer from Phoenix, who visited our school each week to work with a group of students and bring their ideas together into a wonderful piece of choreography to showcase at the end of term. The students were then given the exciting opportunity to perform their work at the Phoenix Theatre, alongside other schools who also showcased their amazing performances. As part of the showcase day, the students took part in professional workshops and training sessions, giving them a valuable insight into what life is like in the professional world of dance. Kian’s talent, dedication and professionalism certainly did not go unnoticed. A member of the Phoenix team approached Mrs Fox to offer Kian a scholarship, recognising his natural talent and exceptional attitude towards dance. This is an outstanding opportunity for Kian, and we could not be prouder of all the hard work and commitment he has shown. Kian began his training at Phoenix last week and is absolutely loving life there! We are incredibly excited to see where this wonderful opportunity takes him.
