Cross Country competition.

On Friday 22nd November Miss Patchett and Mrs Connolly took 12 KS2 students to Roundhay to compete in the North East Leeds School Games Cross Country Festival. 29 schools took part in the competition with over 100 children running in each race.

Our Year 4 students, Ava, Mollie, Ethan and Seb all took part in the competition for the first time and gave it a fantastic effort. They had to run 1 lap of the course which was 900m. They loved experiencing the event for the first time and really pushed themselves to some brilliant finishing places. They all completed the lap and even finished with smiles on their faces!

Year 5 students, Alice, Thembi, Dominik and Ben had to run 2 laps, this distance was 1500m. Again, they all finished the race and gave 110% effort. The sun was shining down as they Year 5s completed their race. For some of these students it was also their first time at the festival.

Last up to run was our Year 6s, Erin, Suraiya, Oscar and Jeremiah. They also had to do 2 laps and complete to 1500m distance. Jeremiah ran half the race with 1 shoe as his shoe lace came undone in the first lap! He never gave up and continued right to the end. Suraiya is a fantastic runner and used her motivation to keep going when the others in the race started to tire.

A special shoutout goes to Ben (Year 5) and Erin (Year 6) who both finished their races in the top 10. This is outstanding! We are very proud of all our students who took part in the festival, they never gave up and it was nice to see them cheering and encouraging other schools. We now await the final results to see if any of our students qualify to the next round.
