Some of our Year 5 & 6 football team were selected to take part in the Road to Wembley football tournament this week which was held at Boddington Football Hub.This competition is always fun, energetic and is a great opportunity to see children from all over the city of Leeds compete and play against each other.
Our first game saw us beat St Therseas 2-0, our second game ended as a draw against Talbot 2-2. We then had an unlucky loss against St Augustines who were a fantastic team 2-1 and then our final game of the group stage was a success as we beat Meanwood 2-0. We qualified to the second round in third place.
We had to play St Augustines again in the second round and this time it finished as a 0-0 draw. Then we had an absolute storming end to the second round and beat Talbot 5-0. These results meant we finished the day in second place! Unfortunately only the first place team qualified through to the next stage but we are super proud of our team for putting on brilliant performances and really taking on what they have been learning in training and putting this into competition settings.
Leeds United scouts came to have chats with both Oscar and Jeremiah and invited them to go and join their programme. This is an amazing opportunity and a credit to all their hard work.
A special shoutout goes to Miss Backhouse who took the team at the last minute and also to Ben Chambers dad who helped Miss Backhouse coach the team throughout the day.
